Yes we do. If one man believes evil was worth dying for, he shames the rest of us who talk about good and yet shrink at the prospects of sacrifice. The irksome fundamentalism in the heart of this upwardly mobile 23-year old drove him and by extension Nigeria into global headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Hitherto, Nigeria has been AWOL on the global scene. We were not in the G20 in London. Our president didn't attend the UN General Assembly two times in a row. Our voice was hushed in Copenhagen. In regional African politics we are the undisputed chiefs of the slum. Now we are back on the headlines. But this time, it was because Abdul almost blew up a plane out of the sky thus triggering all kinds of responses from security alert levels to consular officers losing their heads.

What a shame! We should grab global headlines for more noble reasons. Abdul Mutallab represents everything that is wrong with this world yet he had the audacity to make a bleeding statement to the world at the price of his life's blood. And under this assault to my nation's name I smart. It is not enough to have good men with good intentions who do nothing to make the headlines. Abdul did. So should we.

We should be startled and rattled each week by Time, Newsweek, Fortune, and The Economist's headlines screaming, "Nigerian Scientists Launch Large Hadron Colliders", "Ten Nigerian Businesses Make Fortune 500 Companies List", "Nigeria’s Workforce: Reshaping Global Outsourcing Trends", "Young Nigerian Launches Netviva: Twitter's Strongest Rival Yet", "Nigerian Free Trade Zones and Energy City Projects Attract World's Strongest Brands". Why can't we have all of these?

I tell you something. If there is any myth about Nigeria not capable of taking the world on, Abdul has resolved it in a most despicable manner that shames us sorely. But I tell you with excruciating honesty, he has resolved it. Now let's dominate the headlines with a truly Nigerian brand: YOU.

Go forth therefore and heal the world. Invent breathtaking technologies, drive a decarbonised economy, start businesses that will feed millions, reinvent black and make it the ruling class, change the face of the world positively in ways never before imagined, start a revolution in your mind until every headline screams your name as a pacesetter, world changer, history maker, pathfinder and a Nigerian.

I challenge you to eclipse Abdul Umar Farouk Mutallab out of the media with your more profound impact. In 2010, we will not be marginalised to the sidelines. Despite the plethora of problems, a true knight will not yield an inch of his ground. Even his broken sword shall return to war until by his code of chivalry he conquers the citadel!
He used money to make my group betray me simply because he sees me as a threat to his devious ways. They betrayed me after ten years of being together. They call me BIZTOP, the origin of bracket and presently the owner of the newest single on air called – CELEBRATE. I called it CELEBRATE because it’s a breakthrough for me from all the obstacles as I was never given the chance to make known what happened to my group and I.

They constantly and repeatedly blocked my chances to seek the press or media about what happened and they feed the masses and fans with lies about my surprised exit out of the then promising group, stating that I dropped out of the group because of academic pressure, parental pressure and most of all, they said I was never serious with the groups rehearsal e.t.c.

My beautiful people, all you heard were blatant lies. I was forced to go solo after 90% completion of “least expected.” My voice was deleted from most of the songs on that album – and they went ahead to sell it to the marketers, went on concerts without giving me a dime after 10 years of sweat and blood.

I remembered calling their phones but I was engaged with their automated voice mail and after several trials they reached out to me trying to persuade me not release the song CELEBRATE on air. I said to them, “Nothing personal, I have to tell the world what you did to me” I was meant not to make it but here I am and I promise you in three years from now, the name BIZTOP will ring bells and certainly open doors that you humans have closed.”

I think she feels that I was stealing her thunder or smth, to cut a long story short i ended sleeping with twin A and twin B did not know about it, well so I thought. Twin A by the way was the one that liked me, I got really close to twin A and twin B began behaving funny towards and her sister, anyway - this day I decided that it was not nice for me to be the cause of a grudge between two sisters, so one day i decided to take them both for a treat - sort of a lets be friends and just get along hmmmmm mistake - what happened you want to know.

Well, we all went out just me and the twins, and we really had a good time, twin A was so comfy she got drunk, a few hours later twin B was drunk and I was close to drunk but still had some sanity to get everyone home, any way twin A was so drunk that when i drove them home, twin A had fallen asleep and so I had to carry her into her bedroom all this time twin B was only behaving to be very drunk when in fact she was not. I realised later but meanwhile i went back to the car to find twin B pretending to be asleep, and so I carried her to her room. When I got there and laid her on her bed, she pulled me by the groin on to the bed and manoeuvred on top - and said very boldly, i must not leave unless i make passionate love to her .....
Teddy Pendergrass dies at 59

Pendergrass injured his spinal cord in 1982 and spent six months in hospital. Though he resumed recording the following year, with the album Love Language, a brief wheelchair-bound return to the stage for the worldwide Live Aid concert in 1985 revealed that his raw baritone voice had lost much of its power. It was 19 years before he relaunched his stage career: in 2001 he appeared live at two sell-out shows in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

His rise to fame began during the early 1970s, when he ushered in a new era in rhythm and blues with his fiery yet sensual brand of soul and his ladies' man image, which was burnished by strikingly handsome looks.

He first won popularity as the lead singer with Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes. In 1971 the group signed a record deal with the producers Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. Their first single, I Miss You, was released in 1972, and was followed later that year by If You Don't Know Me By Now, which was nominated for a Grammy.

By the mid-1970s the group were in the vanguard – along with other bands such as the O'Jays and the Three Degrees – of the so-called Philadelphia Sound, which had supplanted Motown as the pre-eminent force in soul music. The Blue Notes' live shows, in which they performed elaborate dance routines in evening dress tails, mirrored the sophisticated production values of their music.
The group was then working under the name Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, featuring Theodore Pendergrass; but when in 1976 Pendergrass challenged Melvin for top billing and failed, he left to pursue a solo career. It was this that brought him his greatest fame. With songs such as Love TKO, Close the Door and I Don't Love You Anymore, he came to define a new era of black male singers whose aggressive vocals suggested virility, not vulnerability. His lyrics were never coarse, unlike those of some male R&B stars, but they had a sensual nature that, without being explicit, bordered on eroticism.
Like Tom Jones and the other great "love man" of 1970s soul, Barry White, Pendergrass made women fans swoon, and his concerts testified to their adulation, with the usual stories of underwear being hurled on stage.

Although he continued to release albums in the years after his accident, Pendergrass was no longer seen as a sex symbol. Instead he cut a more sympathetic, tragic figure, though he still commanded a strong following among his core female fans.

He subsequently founded the Teddy Pendergrass Alliance, an organisation designed to encourage and help people with spinal cord injuries achieve their maximum potential and independence.
Theodore DeReese Pendergrass was born in Philadelphia on March 26 1950. As a boy, he often passed an opulent house on his way to the Thomas Edison high school, promising himself that he would own it himself one day. He was to buy the property after recording five platinum albums in succession, the first black artist to achieve this feat.
Originally hired by Harold Melvin as a drummer for the Cadillacs, the group that later became the Blue Notes, Pendergrass was soon promoted to lead singer. He should have been able to purchase his 34-room mansion on the strength of this group's success, but Melvin allegedly swindled the other members of the line-up, and during his tenure Pendergrass received only one royalty cheque.
When the band toured, Melvin stayed in lavish four-star hotel suites, while the remaining Blue Notes were consigned to fleapit motels. To make matters worse, group members apparently had to make an appointment when they wanted to speak to Melvin.

Pendergrass's successful solo career belatedly brought him the riches that his talent had long promised. He bought the rights to the Otis Redding story and invested in joint ventures with the singer Stephanie Mills, whom he met when they recorded a successful duet together, Two Hearts.

Pendergrass was also a close friend to Latoya Jackson, and he had several children with different women back home in Philadelphia. During this time, Pendergrass and his fellow soul singer Marvin Gaye had a falling-out because Pendergrass was dating Gaye's ex-wife, Janis.
Pendergrass later came up with the concept of women-only concerts, which quickly sold out across the United States. But his career came to an abrupt halt in March 1982 when, aged 31, he drove home with a transvestite in his Rolls-Royce after a basketball game. The trip ended with Pendergrass crashing the car into a tree. His passenger escaped with cuts and bruises, but Pendergrass was paralysed from the chest down.
The accident was surrounded by salacious gossip, with rumours of sexual shenanigans in the vehicle at the time of the accident and suggestions that the former wife of a sports superstar was also a passenger but was whisked from the scene to avoid scandal.

Shortly after the accident, Pendergrass sold his estate and moved into a smaller home. He was married to one of his former dancers for several years before they divorced. The singer published his autobiography, Truly Blessed, in 1992 and underwent colon cancer surgery eight months ago.

A father-of-three who was found with a microscopic speck of cannabis stuck to the bottom of one of his shoes has been sentenced to four years in a Dubai prison.
Keith Brown, a council youth development officer, was travelling through the United Arab Emirates on his way back to England when he was stopped as he walked through Dubai's main airport.
A search by customs officials uncovered a speck of cannabis weighing just 0.003g - so small it would be invisible to the naked eye and weighing less than a grain of sugar - on the tread of one of his shoes.
Dubai International Airport is a major hub for the Middle East and thousands of Britons pass through it every year to holiday in the glamorous beach and shopping haven.
But many of those tourists and business travellers are likely to be unaware of the strict zero-tolerance drugs policy in the UAE.
One man has even been jailed for possession of three poppy seeds left over from a bread roll he ate at Heathrow Airport. Painkiller codeine is also banned.
If suspicious of a traveller, customs officials can use high-tech equipment to uncover even the slightest trace of drugs.
Mr Brown was detained and arrested in September last year and has been held in a cell with three other men in the city prison ever since.
This week the youth worker, who has two young children and a partner at home in Smethwick, West Midlands, was sentenced to four years in prison.
A 25-year-old Briton who was found with a similar speck in one pocket as he arrived on holiday has been awaiting sentence since November.
Meanwhile a Big Brother TV executive has so far been held without charge for five days after being arrested for possessing the health supplement melatonin.
The authorities claim to have discovered 0.01g of hashish in his luggage.
Last night Mr Brown's brother Lee said his case "defied belief".
"For that sort of amount common sense should prevail, from where it was found it was obviously something that had been crushed on the floor - it could have come from anywhere."
Rastafarian Mr Brown had been returning from a short trip to Ethiopia, where one of his children lives and where he owns property.
He was travelling with his partner Imani, who was also stopped and detained for more than a week.
Normally he flew direct to and from the UK, but decided to stop off in Dubai.
"He was incensed when he called me," said driving instructor Lee, 57. "It would be funny if the circumstances weren't so unpleasant.
"Bugs are crawling out of his mattress when he's sleeping. His family are frantic with worry and can't call him."
Last night campaign group Fair Trials International advised visitors to Dubai and Abu Dhabi to "take extreme caution".
Chief Executive Catherine Wolthuizen said: "We have seen a steep increase in such cases over the last 18 months.
"Customs authorities are using highly sensitive new equipment to conduct extremely thorough searches on travellers and if they find any amount - no matter how minute - it will be enough to attract a mandatory four-year prison sentence."
Mrs Wolthuizen added: "We even have reports of the imprisonment of a Swiss man for 'possession' of three poppy seeds on his clothing after he ate a bread roll at Heathrow.

Held: A campaign is underway to secure the release of Cat Le-Huy from a Dubai jail
"What many travellers may not realise is that they can be deemed to be in possession of such banned substances if they can be detected in their urine or bloodstream, or even in tiny, trace amounts on their person."
Only two months after Mr Brown was stopped economics graduate Robert Dalton was detained in almost identical circumstances.
Mr Dalton, from Gravesend, on Kent was with two friends when he was stopped and asked to empty his pockets.
Officials found 0.03g of cannabis in a small amount of fluff. He is currently on trial and if convicted, is likely receive a four-year prison sentence.
Last night his brother Peter, 26, told how it took 24 hours to find out why he had been stopped.
"As we understand, the amount of cannabis was barely visible to the human eye and was at the bottom of the pocket of an old pair of jeans.
"He's not a drug user, but he goes clubbing and the speck was so small."
Last week Cat Le-Huy, a London-based German national, was arrested on arrival at the airport.
Mr Le-Huy, 31, head of technology with Big Brother production company Endemol, was arrested on suspicion of possessing illegal drugs after customs officers found melatonin, a health supplement used for jet lag available over the counter both in Dubai and in the US.
Authorities also claim they discovered fragments in one of his bags which they believe to be hashish. Fair Trials International said the amount was 0.01g.
